Mail-In Sharpening Checklist for Remote Barbers
Mailing barber scissors for sharpening? Confirm the service, protect each edge, use a rigid box and keep a backup at the shop.
Mail-in service works best when the shear, sharpener and shipping plan are agreed before the tool leaves your station.
Before sending
- Confirm that the sharpener services your blade type and knows the issue you have noticed.
- Ask for the process, turnaround and return shipping details.
- Clean and dry the shear, then photograph its condition.
- Keep a backup cutter ready for the time it is away.
Pack it
Close the blades and secure each shear in its own padded slot or blade guard. Cushion the case inside a rigid box so nothing shifts against the edge. Follow the sharpener’s packing instructions and use a tracked service.
When the shear returns, check the cut on a small section before putting it back into a full day’s work. Keep the service note with your tool records. The sharpener guide helps you choose a service; the case guide covers protective storage.
