Every apprentice needs a thinner they can practise with on every head that sits down — blending clipper lines, knocking weight out of thick sides, softening a heavy fringe — without sweating about the price tag. The JAX is Kamisori’s limited-edition answer: a genuine pro-brand thinning scissor built down to a first-kit budget without feeling like a toy.

The 6.0” blade carries 30 V-shaped teeth, the most forgiving configuration for someone still developing their blending eye. It removes a moderate, even amount per closure, so a heavy-handed pass doesn’t leave holes, and repeated passes build up a fade transition gradually. That makes it ideal for the work apprentices actually do all day: erasing demarcation lines after clipper work and tidying scissor cuts under supervision.

The stainless blades sit at 56-58 HRC — softer than Kamisori’s flagship steels, which is actually a feature at this stage of a career. The edge is easy and cheap to have re-sharpened locally, so a practice mishap on a mannequin isn’t a disaster.

The offset handle teaches proper thumb positioning early, which protects your wrist for the decades of cutting ahead. Stock is limited; when this run is gone, it’s gone.
