More about Cutting Shears
Cutting shears are the backbone of every barber's kit. Whether you're running scissor-over-comb all day, blending fades, or doing precision point work, the right cutter makes every technique faster and cleaner. Our range covers 5" to 7"+ in convex, semi-convex, and beveled edges across Japanese and German steel. Offset and crane handles for long-day comfort.
Frequently asked
What size cutting shear for a barber?
Most barbers work with 6"–7". The 6.5" is the sweet spot for versatility — long enough for over-comb work, precise enough for fades. Start there and adjust based on your hand size and technique.
Convex or beveled edge?
Convex for silent, precise cutting (slide cuts, point cutting, fades). Beveled for grip and feedback (scissor-over-comb, blunt cuts, thick hair). Many barbers carry both.
How much should I spend on my main cutter?
AUD $200–$500 gets you a solid professional shear that'll last years. Under $200 is fine for apprentices. Over $500 is for barbers who do premium scissor cuts at $60+ per service.
