Yasaka shears are made in Japan by Yasaka Seiki. The range is compact and focused on working cutters: most models are ATS314 cobalt steel, with a few in VG10 and 440C. It is offset, classic and crane cutters, one main thinner and the sets that pair them.
Who Yasaka is for
Working barbers buying a long-term daily cutter, and barbers who want a dedicated long shear for scissor-over-comb. It also has a true left-hand cutter. Apprentices can start on Mina or Ichiro and move to Yasaka once they know their length and handle.

- Dry Cut: the Yasaka Dry Cut on a crane handle, in 5.5″ and 6.0″.
- SSS: a classic-handle cutter in VG10.
- Left-Handed: the Yasaka Left-Handed, a left-hand offset cutter in 440C, in 5.0″ to 6.0″.
- YS thinner: the Yasaka YS, 6.0″, in ATS314.
- Sets: the Offset and Traditional sets pair the cutter with a thinner, and the Professional Barber set pairs a 7.0″ cutter with a 6.0″ thinner in 16 or 20 teeth. Two 3-piece master sets complete the range.
Choosing within Yasaka
Pick the handle you trained on: the Offset for a lower thumb ring, the Traditional or SSS for level rings, the Dry Cut for a crane. Then the length: 5.5″ to 6.0″ for everyday work, the 7.0″ Barber or SK Long for scissor-over-comb.
Price tier
Yasaka is mid-to-premium. Single cutters sit above Ichiro’s 440C lines and alongside Juntetsu’s cobalt VG10 cutters; the sets and 3-piece master sets are the top of the Yasaka range.
Care and servicing
Wipe after each client, oil the pivot at the end of the day and keep each shear closed in its own slot. Check the tension when you oil: the blades should close smoothly without the tips crossing hard. Use a sharpener who works on Japanese edges: we do not sharpen in-house, and the sharpener questions help you choose one. Faults are covered by our warranty.
