Questions

Are Mina scissors good for apprentices?

Yes. Mina is built around the first kit: SUS440C steel, offset handles and lengths from 5.0″ to 7.0″. The Mina review gives the full verdict.

Is Mina a Japanese brand?

Yes. Mina is an independent Japanese brand. The Mina brand page explains each line and what it is for.

Sakura II or Sakura Double Swivel?

Sakura II has a fixed offset handle; the Double Swivel lets the thumb ring move as you open and close. Start on the fixed handle unless you already cut with a swivel.

Convex or flat edge?

Convex, on Sakura II and Ash, for slide cutting and a smooth close. Flat, on Black Diamond and Umi, holds the hair for blunt lines and scissor-over-comb.

How fast is delivery?

Checkout shows 1 to 2 business days handling and 2 to 4 days to arrive. Standard shipping is A$6, free over A$89; express is A$9.95. See shipping and returns.

More about mina barber shears

Mina is an independent Japanese brand at the entry end of our range. Its shears are SUS440C steel at 58 HRC, mostly on offset handles, and the lines differ by edge, finish and handle movement. Sakura II and Ash have convex edges, Black Diamond and Umi have flat edges, and the Sakura Double Swivel adds a moving thumb.

Most lines come as a cutter, a thinner and a set, and Mina felt pouches hold a cutter and thinner pair.

Where Mina fits

Mina is the first kit and the spare pair. Once you cut all day and know your length, compare an Ichiro in 440C or a Juntetsu in VG10. Stay in one Mina line if you plan to add a thinner later, so the handles match. The Mina brand page explains the lines, the Mina review gives the verdict, and the apprentice shortlist and under-$200 comparison put Mina beside other first pairs.
