Description

The Obsidian set puts a MIKURO EDGE cutter and its matching thinner under one black finish: micro-grooved blades in Takefu VG10, on the same super-offset handle, so switching changes the job, not the grip. Juntetsu is an independent Japanese scissors maker; right-handed.

Micro-Channel Blades

The MIKURO EDGE channels run along the blade faces — Juntetsu’s grip device, intended to hold the section during slide and wet work rather than skimming it. A design feature, stated plainly. The 6.0” thinner carries 30 V-shaped teeth under the same treatment — a blending count, lighter per pass than the low-tooth thinners.

Steel And Finish

Japanese Takefu VG10 Super Steel at 60-62 HRC on both tools. The matte black is a finish, not armour — a sharpening removes it at the edge line. Book a professional shear service when the cut starts to drag.

Sizes

Cutter in 5.5” (detail), 6.0” (general) and 6.5” (long strokes, scissor-over-comb); thinner fixed at 6.0”. The size guide works it through.

What To Expect

The grooves and the black are the whole point — if you want the same steel without the theatre, plain VG10 cutters and sets run through the Juntetsu range. Wipe both after a session, keep the thinner’s teeth clear, oil the pivots.
