Questions

Is Juntetsu a Japanese brand?

Yes. Juntetsu is an independent Japanese brand, and its shears use Japanese VG10 and ATS314 cobalt steels. The Juntetsu brand page explains each line.

VG10 or ATS314?

Both are premium Japanese stainless steels. Juntetsu lists its ATS314 cutters at 62 to 63 HRC and most VG10 models at 60 to 62 HRC. Compare whole cutters in the steel comparison.

Which Juntetsu suits scissor-over-comb?

The Master Flow in 6.5″ or 7.0″, or the Mastersmith 7.0″ in ATS314. Both put a long blade on an offset handle.

What does a Chomper do?

It is a wide-tooth texturiser for taking out bulk. Juntetsu makes it in VG10 with 10 or 16 teeth. Take weight out with the Chomper, then blend with a finer thinner.

What does shipping cost?

Standard shipping is A$6, free over A$89; express is A$9.95. Checkout shows 1 to 2 business days handling and 2 to 4 days to arrive. See shipping and returns.

More about juntetsu barber shears

Juntetsu is an independent Japanese brand and the deepest range we stock. VG10 runs through the Offset, Night, Azure, Zenith, Tsunami and Crystal Elite lines, and ATS314 cobalt steel at 62 to 63 HRC sits in the Sword, Kenshi and Mastersmith cutters.

Most models come as a cutter, a matching thinner and a set. The Juntetsu name is also on the leather holsters, wallets and pouches in our cases range.

Compare before you upgrade

Juntetsu does not use one spec across the range, so read the steel, hardness and edge on each product page. Start with VG10 for a first premium cutter; move to ATS314 cobalt, at 62 to 63 HRC, for the Sword and Mastersmith. The Juntetsu brand page explains the lines, the Juntetsu review gives the verdict, and Yasaka vs Juntetsu puts four cutters side by side.
