Juntetsu: Independent Japanese Barber Shears

Juntetsu is an independent Japanese brand and the deepest premium range we stock. It makes cutters, thinners and matched sets in Japanese VG10 and ATS314 cobalt steel, mostly on offset handles, plus the leather holsters and wallets that carry them. Most models come as a cutter, a thinner and a set.

Who Juntetsu is for

Working barbers ready to upgrade from an entry-level pair, and barbers who want a matched premium cutter and thinner on the same handle. If you are still settling on a length, start with Mina or Ichiro and come back.

The Juntetsu lines

• Everyday VG10: the Juntetsu VG10 Offset in 4.5″ to 6.0″, the Azure, Precision and Crystal Elite cutters, and the Night set with a 5.75″ or 6.75″ cutter and a 6.0″ thinner.
• Long and sword blades: the Master Flow, Zenith, Tsunami Elite and Ergo Barber put long sword-profile blades on offset handles for scissor-over-comb.
• Cobalt VG10: Cobalt Apex and Cobalt Vertex for close, tip-led cutting, and the Cobalt Sword in 6.0″ to 7.0″.
• ATS314 cobalt: the Sword Professional, Kenshi and Mastersmith 7.0″ at 62 to 63 HRC, plus the classic-handle Black Cobalt.
• Handle options: the Swivel Offset, the Crane Super Offset, and classic handles on the VG Black and Black Cobalt cutters.
• Finishing: the Chomper texturiser in 10 or 16 teeth for bulk, and a matching thinner for most cutters.
• Finish lines: Matte Black, Rose Gold, Rose Limited and the rainbow Hanami, which is 440C.
• Leather: belt holsters for four or five shears, tri-fold wallets and single pouches.

Choosing within Juntetsu

Pick the length, then the blade: a straight everyday blade for most work, a long sword profile for scissor-over-comb. Choose VG10 for a first premium cutter and ATS314 when you want the top tier. If you want the thinner to match, buy the set rather than two singles.

Price tier

Juntetsu is our premium tier. The everyday VG10 cutters are the entry point, the cobalt VG10 lines sit above them, and the ATS314 cutters and their sets are at the top of the range.

Care and servicing

Premium steel still needs daily care. Wipe after each client, oil the pivot at the end of the day and store each shear closed in its own slot. Use a sharpener who works on Japanese edges: we do not sharpen in-house, and the sharpener questions help you pick one. Faults are covered by our warranty.
