Juntetsu Obsidian MIKURO EDGE Hair Cutting Scissors

Built for the long cut and the close cut

Obsidian is Juntetsu’s single MIKURO EDGE cutter. Pick 5.5” for close work, 6.0” for a general cutting shear or 6.5” when you want more reach across a section. These are whole-scissor lengths; the listing has right-handed variants only.

The convex blade has micro-milled channels on its faces. They are the distinctive construction of this line. Under the matte black finish is Takefu VG10 steel, listed at 60–62 HRC. The super-offset handle puts the thumb ring lower than the finger ring; check that grip against a shear you already use before choosing it for a full day on the floor.

This is one cutter. If you also need a blender, compare the matching Obsidian thinner and two-scissor set. Wipe the blades dry after work, oil the pivot as needed and use a professional shear sharpener when the cut starts to drag.
